Welcome to the December issue of your Sandy Lane Owners newsletter where we’ve much to report as we’ve been very busy with improvements to your Beach Club and to the estate generally.

SLPOA Inc.

AGM

The SLPOA Inc. AGM will take place at 9.30am on Saturday 10th of February 2024 and will be held in the club house and via Zoom for those who can not attend in person.

Annual fees

As normal the annual invoices were submitted to all owners and their agents on or prior to October 1 2023 with a deadline of October 31 2023. The majority of invoices have already been settled and we would like to thank those members and agents who paid early however we urge those who have not settled yet especially those who rent to do by December 15th.

NYE

Please see attached flyer for the NYE event which we will be holding at the club. We hope that the event will be predominantly a members evening with a sit down 3 course dinner accompanied by wine, champagne and entertainment.

Security

Security hut

  • Controls access to club via the repositioned main gates and the new pedestrian gate.
  • Includes desk, high speed internet, lighting and AC.
  • Design is in keeping with the club and cabanas.

Gate repositioning

The repositioned gate makes room for the new security hut and installation of pedestrian access gate. Additional / repositioned chain link fences have also been installed to prevent unauthorized access.

Windscreen stickers

Member, long term tenant and holiday rental car windscreen stickers have been printed and are ready for use during the high season to help manage security and car park access / usage.

Infrastructure

Generator

  • 20KVA LPG generator.
  • Powers entire club in the event of a power cut.

South boundary walkway

  • Old stepping stones and rocks removed.
  • It’s now a safe and clean concrete area which could also be used for additional storage if necessary.

Extended storage platforms

North and south concrete storage platform for sun-beds, cushions and umbrellas have been extended so all items are now stored safely and off the sand.

Facilities

New raft

  • 16ft x 16ft.
  • Hardwood and stainless steel structure.
  • Seating for up to 16 people.
  • Non slip surface.
  • Long stainless steel ladder for easy access.
  • Stainless steel railings.

As part of the ongoing enhancement of the facilities on the Estate, we would like to thank Mr and Mrs Manchester for their exceptionally generous donation of the new floating deck at the beach club.

Technology

QR code ordering system

Automatic ordering and payment systems to help streamline operations – will be used for the high season.

Online Registration

Online registration system to help streamline operations in-terms of security, arrivals and access.

Hybrid zoom meetings technology and hardware

75 inch smart TV with camera and speakers along with control module to enable Zoom and in person AGMs at the club house.

Maintenance

Painting

  • Cabana exteriors.

Maintenance Works

  • White terrace and lounge chairs / furniture all spray painted.
  • Any damaged sunbeds have been fixed.
  • Addressed flooding by terrace.
  • Trowel plastic and painting to north shower garden border.
  • Installation of new low wall by terrace.
  • General snagging of walkways and back of house.
  • Terrace and lounge table tops sealed.
  • Bar sink raised.
  • Old bar fridge repaired.
  • Office window repaired and sealed.
  • Platform connecting office to clubhouse.
  • Bins on beach refurbished.
  • Bottom of large umbrella poles addressed.
  • Members and staff bathroom regrouted.
  • Disabled bathroom lighting upgrade.
  • Beach cleaning machine fixed and serviced.
  • Kitchen doors and windows sealed (YE).
  • Any damaged sunbeds and sunbed cushions have been fixed

Cleaning / Organising

  • Both large platform umbrellas cleaned.
  • Retractable awning cleaned.
  • All terrace, platform and lounge cushions.
  • Sun-beds have been power-washed.
  • Bar.
  • Kitchen.
  • Store rooms.
  • Staff areas.

Gardens

  • Installation of some new plants.
  • Irrigation check and repairs.
  • Cutting branch of almond tree hanging over new south beach shower block.
  • Annual tree trimming.
  • New grass in required areas.
  • New plants to soften beach shower blocks.
  • Lighting checked and repaired.

Puchasing

  • New flag.
  • New drill bit for beach sun-bed umbrella pole machine.
  • Beach side tables – 100 x 18” x 28” aluminium / PVC tables ordered.
  • Temporary tables and chairs for the busy weeks – 5 round tables and 40 chairs purchased (YE).

Ongoing

  • Daily GM checks and action list.
  • Cleaning.
  • Septic services.
  • Pest control.
  • Mosquito prevention.
  • Maintenance and painting.

Bar

  • Additional coffee machine / supplier (YE).
  • Draft Guinness – can

Staff

  • New bar man has been recruited.
  • Additional security and staff will be on duty during the busy weeks including permanent floor managers.
  • Nadia who worked at the club for many years sadly lost her battle with cancer and passed away last month – flowers and a signed card were sent to her funeral.

Events

  • On New Year’s Eve guests will enjoy the evening in a tent with flooring on the beach with a separate tent for the buffet, although starters and puddings will be served to the tables. Wine and champagne will be offered complementary to all paying or paid for registered customers whilst at their table in the tent for the duration of the evening or to approximately 12.30am.
  • Father Christmas and his elf will be visiting the club on Christmas morning so please drop off a wrapped and labelled gift beforehand.
  • Evening BBQs will occur on select evenings throughout the busy period.

Proposed Projections For 2024/25

  • General garden upgrade.
  • Improve garden lights.
  • Gutters on all cabanas and rain water storage for irrigation.
  • Gutter between club house and cabana block.
  • Change concrete pathways to grey brick.
  • Upgrade member bathrooms.
  • 3rd dining platform.
  • Roof over sunbed and umbrella concrete storage platforms.
  • New beach cleaning machine.
  • Address car park surface and repaint parking lines.
  • Electric car / golf buggy charger.
  • More sunbeds, umbrellas, side tables and cushions.

Other

  • Agents / long term tenants are to be reminded of the beach club’s rules and access protocol prior to season.

WEST COAST LIMITED

AGM

The West Coast Limited AGM will take place at 3.30pm on Friday 9th of February 2024 and will be held in the club house and via Zoom for those who can not attend in person.

Pothole and road damage repairs

We are in the process of completing West Ridge / High Ridge and Hope Road areas – and all other roads are complete except South Road which will be completed after a decision has been made regarding the well which is needed to address the flooding following heavy rains.

  • North and south carriageways opposite Sandy Lane Hotel – Complete.
  • Curbs, drainage and speed bumps works and repairs- Ongoing.

Security

Commenced back as cruise ships have returned to Barbados.

Tree trimming

We would like to remind all owners that it is their responsibility to maintain and trim their trees especially branches that overhang neighbouring properties and most importantly the estate roads.

Road closure

The annual road closure will take place on December 10th 2023. Adverts will be placed on the newspaper and notification letters will be sent to the Holetown Police Station and The Ministry or Transport & works.

Code of Conduct

We would like to remind all owners that it is not permitted to park on Estate roads so could all owners remember to advise their staff and managing agents of the code of conduct – a copy is attached for reference. Furthermore construction / maintenance machinery and noise is not permitted prior to 7.30am or after 5.30pm during the week and never after 12noon on Saturdays or at anytime on Sundays.
